Hospitals are condemning a recent report that found 87 percent of the 82 Wisconsin nonprofit hospitals included in its analysis spent less on financial assistance and community investment than the estimated value of their tax breaks.

DHS releases plan for $36 million in opioid settlement dollars
The Department of Health Services is proposing to invest $36 million it’ll receive in opioid settlement funds next fiscal year in prevention, harm reduction, treatment and recovery efforts, according to a plan submitted Tuesday to the Legislature’s budget-writing committee for review.

Evers signs mental health crisis center bill, vetoes healthcare-related measures
Gov. Tony Evers on Friday signed into law a bill intended to broaden Wisconsin’s mental health crisis response infrastructure. He also vetoed healthcare-related bills affecting licensing, telehealth and vaccine requirements at organ transplant centers and higher education institutions.
