Report examines premiums in Dane County

Integrated delivery systems consisting of partnerships between insurers and providers as well as higher quality plans are among the factors that may explain why the Wisconsin State Employee Health Plan consistently obtains lower health insurance premiums in Dane County than elsewhere in the state, according to a new report. On the Record: Working Man Borgerding takes reins at WHA

On Jan. 1, Eric Borgerding became the president and CEO of the Wisconsin Hospital Association. He succeeds Steve Brenton, who's led the organization since 2002 and will now serve as senior policy advisor. Brenton lured Borgerding back to WHA from Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce in 2002, naming him vice president of government affairs. (WHN, 1/9)

Kind introduces bill to repeal medical device tax

U.S. Reps. Ron Kind, D-La Crosse, and Erik Paulsen, R-Minn., introduced a bill to the House Wednesday that would repeal the 2.3 percent excise tax applied to the sale of medical devices.
