Financial reports offer first glimpse at Froedtert, Medical College joint venture

The Medical College of Wisconsin booked $33.3 million in new revenue but lost other revenue sources the first six months of a joint clinical partnership with Froedtert Health, while Froedtert attributed increases in both revenue and expenses to the arrangement. (BUSINESS JOURNAL, 2/28)

Walker aides tried to squelch political impact of mental health care

Steve Schultze and Meg Kissinger of the Journal Sentinel report: "Instructions from Scott Walker's campaign manager were explicit: Delay settlement of a long-standing legal case over the starvation-related death of 26-year-old Cindy Anczak at the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex. 'Could care less what it is on,' Walker campaign manager Keith Gilkes wrote in an Oct. 22, 2010, email exchange with a Walker aide at the county, referring to the claim's legal basis." South central Wisconsin hospitals must fill almost 1,000 provider positions by 2018

As Wisconsin's provider workforce ages, 15 hospitals in south central Wisconsin will need to hire 967 providers in the next five years, according to a Retirement & Departure Survey released last fall, and presented at a recent board meeting of the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
