United CEO focuses on value-based contracting

Contracting is changing, UnitedHealthcare CEO Dustin Hinton told Wisconsin Health News during a recent, wide-ranging interview. "A number of the provider systems are aligning and we need to find ways to work with the provider systems to improve quality and efficiency in our marketplace and drive down costs," he said. PatientTrak software keeps tabs on progress of patients

James Hermann had quick success with his first venture, an online service that provided nutritional guidelines for cancer patients, selling the business with the company's founder to Medco Health Solutions for $1.4 million roughly two years after its start. Now he hopes to repeat that success. Lumin Medical LLC, Hermann's new company based in Franklin, bought PatientTrak, a company that sells a service that tracks wait times and patient flow at health care settings, this year for more than $1 million.
