Department of Corrections pushes to expand mental health, substance use disorder treatment

Department of Corrections Secretary Kevin Carr pitched the Legislature’s budget-writing committee Tuesday on Gov. Tony Evers’ plans for the state’s justice system, which include growing a program supporting people with mental illness leaving prison and expanding access to medication-assisted treatment for those with substance use disorders.
