Froedtert Health has named David Olson, former president of Columbia St. Mary's Ozaukee County hospital, to the position of chief strategy officer for the health system. Seniors in northwestern Wisconsin are being targeted by health care scams, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection said Thursday. A startling ad campaign launched by the City of Milwaukee and intended to awaken parents to the dangers of sharing a bed with an infant is stirring a national debate that is not just about co-sleeping but also about the ad itself. The ad depicts a baby sleeping in an adult bed, surrounded by puffy pillows and blankets. A large knife is tucked in the covers nearby. Above the image, the ad says: "Your baby sleeping with you can be just as dangerous." (JOURNAL SENTINEL, 11/17)

The cost of providing health benefits in the Milwaukee area increased to $10,441 per employee this year, up 6.7% from last year, according to a new survey. That was slightly higher than the national average of $10,146 for each employee, a 6.1% increase from last year. (JOURNAL SENTINEL, 11/17)

Beer and health care may sound like an odd mix. In one case however, the two have formed an unlikely partnership to get creative with renewable energy. City Brewery in La Crosse, Wisconsin is using all of its biogas byproduct from the brewing process to create three million kilowatt hours per year of electricity by employing a capturing, cleaning and burning process through an engine called a jenbacher. Down the road from the brewery is Gundersen Lutheran Health System which is credited for the electricity produced by City Brewery. (HUFFINGTON POST, 11/16)
