With free clinic, dentists hope to fill gaps in care, not just cavities

More than 150 dental chairs will be set up Friday and Saturday at Alliant Energy Center for a free clinic expected to provide extractions, fillings, dentures and cleanings to about 3,000 patients. At least 1,500 volunteer dentists, hygienists and others will provide an estimated $1.75 million in free care at the Wisconsin Dental Association's Mission of Mercy clinic, according to the WDA. Wis. Supreme Court upholds damages in drug lawsuit

The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Friday upheld damages that were awarded in a lawsuit the state brought against a prescription drug company accused of inflating prices. The lawsuit dates back to 2004 when then-Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager sued 36 drug companies alleging they inflated wholesale prices to get larger payments from Medicaid, private insurers and consumers. Medical college to review Green Bay plan today

Medical College of Wisconsin trustees meet today to consider a statewide expansion plan that could mean a new presence in Green Bay. City officials have worked hard to land one of the new regional campuses, and college administrators have voiced enthusiasm for starting their expansion in that area. Wheaton plans $49 million expansion of Franklin hospital

Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare is seeking approval for a $49 million expansion of its hospital in Franklin. The health care system, pending city approvals, would begin work this year on a 65,000-square-foot medical office building projected to cost $13 million to $15 million, said Dan Mattes, president of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare's central market. Physicians Plus moves away from UW, adds Mayo, Froedtert, and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin

The relationship between Meriter and UW Health grew more strained Tuesday with an announcement by Physicians Plus that starting January 1, it will no longer cover primary care services at UW Hospital and Clinics owned facilities and that it’s adding Mayo Clinic, Froedtert Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin to its network.
